
Climate changes the priority
Hot lowland sites may prioritize solar heat gain and ventilation. Temperate valleys need balanced summer and winter performance. Cold high-altitude locations may need stronger insulation, airtightness and condensation control.
Metal roofs respond quickly
Metal roofing can become hot in direct sun and cool rapidly at night. Insulation, ceiling cavities, reflective surfaces and ventilation can improve comfort, while vapour control and sealed laps help manage condensation.
Common material options
Glasswool and rockwool can be installed in roof cavities, PUF or PIR sandwich panels combine covering and insulation, and reflective layers can reduce radiant heat when installed with an appropriate air space. The complete assembly matters more than a single product name.
Do not ignore thermal bridges
Steel purlins, fasteners, compressed insulation, gaps and uninsulated edges can reduce performance. Maintain continuity and avoid unnecessary compression.
